Strategy for Mass Deportations

Tom Homan has the wrong strategy for sanctuary cities and states.  Mr. Homan has said that he will put more resources in these jurisdictions (click here). The issue with this approach is that Mr. Homan’s efforts will keep crime and overcrowding down.  The local politicians will likely take credit for these good  outcome and say that their policies are working. Reelection of the local politicians will not force changes to the sanctuary policies.  The second order effect is that the policies will not change in these jurisdictions.

I have a suggestion for a better strategy, use the federal resources where they would be most effective.   To effectively use the federal resources, ignore the sanctuary jurisdictions. Using the federal resources in the sanctuary jurisdictions will be far less productive than using the resources in cooperative jurisdictions.  So, Ignore jurisdictions with sanctuary policies.  This will put more resources in the jurisdictions that cooperate, rewarding good behavior.  In addition, the resources in the cooperative jurisdictions will be more effective thus deporting far more illegals per man hour.

Make sure the illegal immigrants know about this policy.  Many of these illegal immigrants will flow to the jurisdictions with sanctuary policies.  As the The sanctuary jurisdictions will be overloaded with the illegal immigrants.  The politicians that setup the sanctuary policies will be voted out of office and their replacements with change the policies.   Then one can concentrate on the former sanctuary jurisdictions.  Ideally, the uncooperative politicians will be replaced within two years.
